PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck two times late to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
