Ten individuals found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A persistent conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
